Hello you 👋If you’re someone who sits staring at the LinkedIn “Start a post” box and overthinks…

What to post?

Will people even engage?

Will this get likes?

Will it look stupid?”Trust me — I’ve been there a lot of times when starting to build myself here.

When I first started building on LinkedIn, I used to overthink everything.Should I post this?

Will it get engagement?

Will anyone relate?

Will this bring leads? and so on…That phase is honestly so real. And almost all of us go through it. YESSS!

But over time, as I kept showing up, reading others, and learning from my connections, I figured one thing:

And today, I want to walk you through how I built my LinkedIn content strategy — in a way that feels natural, not stressful…

We’ve All Been There: Let’s Start With This

I didn’t magically wake up one day with ideas flowing…I learnt from:

  • Fellow writers sharing their work

  • People posting about their processes

  • Someone is talking about a client challenge

  • Someone is sharing feedback they got

  • Someone is converting a comment into a full post

  • Someone got a testimonial for their recent project

  • And the list goes on….

Basically, people who were creating content from whatever was happening in their work or life, or on LinkedIn.

That’s when it clicked:

My life, my work and my linkedin already had content — I wasn’t just noticing it.

How I Decide What to Post (My Simple Approach)

Whenever I start a new project, especially in a new industry, I talk about:

  • How I’m approaching the work

  • How I’m researching and reading

  • How I understand the client’s USP

  • How I’m learning what’s totally new to me

  • And what feedback I’m getting

Or if I receive any feedback that busts a myth, or teaches me something new → that’s a new post then.If someone appreciates my work → that’s a post.If I comment somewhere and it turns into an idea → that’s a post.

LinkedIn is basically this:

You're sharing how you do what you do — to show publicly and be visible so people know who the hell you are… especially your next client who might be watching you silently !!

And once you start noticing your own work, you stop overthinking your content.

Stop Chasing Metrics…Start Setting Goals

Here’s the truth I learnt the hard way in this journey:Likes don’t matter. Your goals do.

A post with 10 likes and 0 comments for your target audience is better than one with 40 likes and 20 comments shared for engagement.

Because viral posts won’t bring you leads!! So, don’t chase that idea. You should be viral, but a post that makes sense to your target audience.

You need to be clear about:

  • Who you want to reach

  • Your target clients

  • Your niche

  • What do you want to be known for

Know that you’re not writing for everyone… so focus on writing that matters to your targeted goals.

Once that’s set, your content becomes easier to post. Then your mix would look like:

  • Your work

  • Your client's work

  • Your learnings

  • Your mistakes

  • Your personal experiences

  • Some vulnerable moments

  • And sometimes, just you being human

That’s all the “strategy” you need.

Build a Content Calendar (It Saves So Much Mental Energy)

Yes, I actually plan my LinkedIn content now.

You can:

  • Create a 1-month LinkedIn content calendar

  • Mix work + personal + learnings, or the way you like

  • Ask ChatGPT to generate ideas based on your goals (engagement, leads, authority—whatever you want)

  • Use these ideas as weekly pillars

It’s easier to post when you’re not thinking from scratch every time and have something to start writing.

Start Using Tools — They Exist, So You Don’t Burn Out

A few things that made my life easier:

  • GPT → for planning ideas, drafting rough posts

  • Buffer → for saving ideas, scheduling posts, and knowing the best time to post

  • Buffer’s Community Hub → for engaging without scrolling endlessly

If tools exist, use them.We don’t have to be superheroes doing everything manually.

Your Content Is Already Around You — Start Noticing It

A recent example from my SaaS Writing Challenge:

I started a 30-day SaaS writing challenge. And suddenly I had so many ideas:

  • What I’m learning

  • How each article is teaching me something new

  • How I approach each SaaS piece

  • The workflow I’m building

  • My myth-busting moments

All of this shows my evolution as a SaaS writer, builds my authority, and helps potential clients understand how I think and work.

And yes — a lot of ideas still come from reading other people’s posts. There’s no shame in that. Inspiration is everywhere. Just save the idea you got and share a post later, in fact, tag them to credit— it will boost your engagement only.

See this one, I turned an appreciation into a post:

Btw, here is my portfolio, in case you want to check after reading this message.

You need to look around, and then see how you get so many ideas, even when reading this edition— I’m sure you must already have so many ideas, or might be saying to yourself— “ohh, I can also do this, I have much more to share”, and that’s where you take your first step.

Now, if you really felt this— write down those ideas somewhere so you don’t forget after you finish the reading— that’s the goal of this edition, right?

You can also schedule your posts if you think you will be swamped with work. But make sure to be active before and after you post, and reply to comments. That’s the right way to post on LinkedIn— rather than post and ghost.

If You’re Overthinking What to Post — Start Here

This is what I want you to remember:

✔️Figure out your goal

✔️Know who you’re talking to

✔️Share what you’re doing, learning, building, fixing, exploring, failing at, or improving

✔️Stop chasing likes

✔️Use AI and tools to help you (only to help you)

And suddenly, you’ll realise…You never really “ran out” of content — you just weren’t noticing the content already happening in your life. Yes, trust me!

Final Note (From Me to You)🤍

If you’re overthinking LinkedIn, please breathe…like literally breathe.Okay, now hear me out— You don’t have to be perfect. You just need to be you, consistently.

And trust me — when people start relating to your posts, they engage. When they see your growth, they follow. When they see your process, they trust you.And when they trust you, the leads come naturally.

I’m still learning every day.So will you.Let’s build this in public — together💌
